Mathletics, our online maths program for schools, has earned Pedagogical Quality Certification from EdTech Impact – an independent evaluation backed by University of Helsinki research.

The assessment found excellent ratings for active learning (90/100), strong curriculum alignment with The National Curriculum for England*, and high learner engagement scores across motivation, competence and safety.

*The program is also compatible with a range of international curricula, making it suitable for worldwide use.

What is EdTech Impact?

EdTech Impact provides independent, research-based evaluation of digital learning tools. Their Quality Framework is used by over 400,000 educators and school leaders across 130+ countries to inform procurement decisions.

The framework assesses products across four key pillars: lawful and ethical practices, quality and pedagogy, user experience, and research impact.

The Pedagogical Quality Certification focuses specifically on learning goals, pedagogical approach, and learner engagement – evaluating how well a product supports effective teaching and learning.

About Mathletics

Mathletics provides curriculum-aligned maths activities for students aged 5–16, covering foundational skills through to advanced problem-solving.

Across all categories, Mathletics demonstrated high educational quality, with particularly strong results in active learning, personalised pathways, and student motivation.

Independent evaluators confirmed that Mathletics:

  • Covers all key strands of the UK primary mathematics curriculum.
  • Provides progressive skill pathways aligned to year-group expectations.
  • Supports active, personalised learning with strong gamification elements.
  • Creates a safe, inclusive learning environment with high engagement scores.

Learning Goals: Strong alignment with the UK mathematics curriculum

As part of the Pedagogical Quality evaluation, trained educator-evaluators mapped Mathletics against the UK National Curriculum for Mathematics, reviewing coverage across number, calculation, fractions, geometry, measurement and statistics.

The review confirmed that Mathletics:

  • Covers all key strands and sub-strands of the primary maths curriculum.
  • Includes progressive skill pathways aligned to expected year-group outcomes.
  • Provides didactic learning goals for core strands, indicating consistent instructional focus.
  • Supports a range of facilitative skills across problem-solving, reasoning and representation.

This mapping ensures that Mathletics’ instructional sequence reflects the structure and intent of national curriculum expectations – a priority for MATs and leaders seeking tools that reinforce classroom teaching.

Pedagogical Approach: Excellent performance across key dimensions

EdTech Impact assesses pedagogy using four research-based contrary pairs. Mathletics scored Good to Excellent across all of them.

These ratings reflect EdTech Impact’s evaluation scale, where scores of 80+ indicate Excellent performance.
