Latest IELTS test questions in the UAE – August 2025 (General Training)

With thanks to our student H.A., who recently sat the IELTS exam in the UAE, here are the Writing questions he remembered:

IELTS Writing Test – General Training

Writing task 1 (a letter)

You would like your friend to join you on a camping trip. Write an email to your friend. In your email:

– invite him/her to go camping with you on a particular date
– explain why you would like him/her to come with you
– give details about the trip

Write at least 150 words. You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Writing task 2 (an essay)

Some companies promote their employees based on the number of years they have worked in the organisation.

Do the advantages of this practice outweigh the disadvantages?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
