In this, I include quite a few slides I use as I talk to students and parents, including this one about the words we use. We have to be careful not to let the “hype” words used by AI companies impact our own vocabulary. Yes, I know that we have to clearly define the “role” of AI and give them a job description, but here are some words that particularly concern me when used with AI. I think the word that concerns me the most is “partner.” AI is not a partner. It is designed to make us want to talk to it and NOT to tell us the truth or make sure we flourish. It is designed for its own benefit, not ours. The word “partner” is between equals. So, I don’t ever like the word partner. We go into many more things in the show as well.
