We’re back online and grateful for your patience.
The Memrise apps and website are now fully up and running again. The issue was resolved late last night, and we’ve been closely monitoring everything since. Your learning progress and personal data should be right where you left them.
This outage happened just as we were preparing to launch the big new app update we’ve been talking about. A total coincidence, but yes, truly terrible timing. To be totally clear: the outage wasn’t caused by the update itself. It turns out the solution involved a classic move: switching it off and back on again (thanks, AWS). Sometimes it really is that simple.
We know streaks matter, and a lot of you were worried about losing yours. If you were affected, you can always head to your user settings and restore your streak manually.
Thanks again for sticking with us. We’re a small team of humans doing our best to make an app that gets you where you have dreamed of going: actually speaking a new language, and we’re really glad to be back.

We’re still actively working to resolve the issue. This continues to be an all-hands-on-deck situation. The entire team is working all-hands-on-deck on restoring the service so that learners around the world can get back to their language learning.
Meeting your learning goals is super important to you – we know that-, whether it’s part of your daily routine, your travel prep, or just a small pocket of joy in your day, and we’re doing everything we can to bring that back as soon as possible.
We’ve seen a lot of questions about streaks: once the service is back online, you’ll be able to manually restore your streak in your user settings.
