توقع المستقبل Predicting the Future

In this post, we’ll practice the future tense by making predictions توقعات about the future المستقبل.

There are two ways to talk about the future in Arabic:

By adding the prefix سَـ ‏‎ or the word سوف  before the present tense forms of the verb, for example:

سيكتب or سوف يكتب “he will write”.

?Read the following paragraph about predicting the future توقع المستقبل, notice that each tense begins with either the prefix سَـ ‏‎ or the word سوف. First, determine these future tenses and their meanings, then choose from the words below to fill in the blanks?.

أتوقع أنه بعد عشرين عاماً ستسير كل السيارات على ____ عوضاً عن الوقود. وسيصبح ثمن التشيز برغر _____. سوف تكون للحيوانات الأليفة  _____ الخاص بها. سوف تصبح الملابس مصنوعة من ____. ستكون الدولة ____ فيها أكبر عدداً من الناس

?In this next exercise, create sentences using either the prefix سَـ ‏‎ or the word سوف to predict Jamal’s life and Ameena’s life.

حياة جمال 

For example:

المسكن: قصر

سوف يسكن جمال في قصر/سيسكن جمال في قصر

العمل: مُمَثِل

الموقع: جبال

الأطفال: ثلاثة

الحيوان الأليف: عصفور

وسيلة التنقل: دراجة نارية

الراتب: ١٠٠٠٠٠٠ في السنة

حياة أمينة 

المسكن: شقة

العمل: طبيبة أسنان

الموقع: مدينة 

الأطفال: بلا أطفال

الحيوان الأليف: كلب

وسيلة التنقل: سيارة 

الراتب: ٥٠٠٠٠ في السنة
